Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Visit Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst For Veterans Day

The royal couple visited with service members and their families while in the area to honor Veterans Day and the UK's Remembrance Day.

JOINT BASE McGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, NJ — The military members stationed at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst routinely host visitors of all kinds. On Thursday, the base welcomed an unusual visit, however, from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who helped honor veterans on Veterans Day.

Joint Base officials shared photos of the visit by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who met with sailors, soldiers, Marines, airmen and members of the Coast Guard, along with their families, "to discuss the challenges and experiences they have throughout their military careers," the base said in a Facebook post.

The couple was in the area for a Veterans Day event at the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum in New York City on Wednesday night, Vanity Fair reported.

Harry served in the British Royal Army for 10 years and continues to support veterans as they return to civilian life, according to the United Kingdom's official page on his military service.

Nov. 11, in addition to being Veterans Day in the United States, is Remembrance Day in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth Nations. The date honors the signing of the armistice that ended World War I.
