Rumbling That Rattled Some Was Detonations, Joint Base Says

Officials posted an alert to Facebook about the potential for noise Monday afternoon.

Residents of Lakehurst, Manchester and other neighboring communities may hear rumbling from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Monday afternoon, as base personnel destroy dummy rounds of ammunition, officials announced.

Base officials posted a notice on the base’s Facebook page warning that those near the base, particularly near Lakehurst, could hear noise between noon and 4 p.m.

“These are controlled detonations on Lakehurst to destroy 19 dummy rounds found near the installation,” the notice said.
