Storm Leaves Hundreds Of Homes Without Power In Manchester

vA fierce storm knocked out electrical service throughout the township, Manchester police said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — More than 5,900 homes were without electric service early Wednesday morning after fierce winds brought down trees and wires across Manchester Township.

Manchester Township police sent an alert about 11:45 p.m. acknowledging the power outages, and urging residents to stay home and off the roads.

There was no estimate from Jersey Central Power & Light of when power would be restored because of the extent of the storm.

Manchester had the majority of the power outages that JCP&L was reporting in Ocean County. More than 11,600 homes were without service as of 12:15 a.m.
