Students Support Heart Health One Book at a Time
Principal Fran Scudese had her hair dyed in celebration of the achievement
Manchester Township Elementary School students celebrated on April 29 after they achieved their goal of reading 10,000 books to raise money for the American Heart Association.
Students also had an agreement with their principal, Dr. Fran Scudese — if they met their goal, she would dye her hair blue and gold, the school's colors.
During Jump Rope for Heart Day, students indeed had the chance to watch Scudese live up to her end of the bargain.

According to the district, students surpassed their original goal by March 1 and have now read 15,000 books.
The event also featured sack races, a hula hoop competition and jump-roping.
