'Things That Creep Me Out:' Check Out This Haunted House Display

The elaborate display "Terror on South Main" in South Toms River is worth checking out.

If you like scary, freaky, spooky Halloween displays, you won’t want to miss the one in South Toms River.

Louis White, who responded to a post on the Toms River Patch Facebook page, shared photos of the display he and his partner call β€œTerror on South Main.”

β€œWe begin our decorating early September,” White said. β€œOur home haunt display features corn, scarecrows, zombies, clowns, a graveyard and spiders. We try to focus on items that are realistic scares. The display is also complete with detailed lighting, fog machines and music.”

White said he has always had β€œan obsessive passion for Halloween,” cultivated through growing up with a grandmother who loved Halloween and created elaborate displays on her porch.

β€œIt was just something I was surrounded by as a child,” said White, who grew up in Toms River. Now, his obsession has expanded to running a website that reviews haunted houses from Virginia to Maine, called FrightTour.com.

β€œVenturing to haunted houses from Virginia to Maine each year gave me the inspiration to start my own display minus the walk through. Maybe one day I will venture into that neck of the woods,” White said.

The display is ”just what I have in my head,” White said. β€œThe things featured in the display are all things that creep me out. We try to refrain from using anything cheesy, happy or unbelievable.”

Running nightly till midnight from Oct. 1 through Nov. 6, the house is at 126 South Main St. in South Toms River, between Route 9 and Dover Road.

β€œPeople can find more info on our Facebook page Terror on South Main. We will be outside on trick or treat allowing people to walk through our yard, grab candy and take photos!”
