Recovered Items Now Available at Online Auction

Items are available for purchase through online auction website

The collectibles recovered by police that were approved for sale by the Township Council last month are now available on an online auction website.

The items, which include jewelry, coins, comic books and New York Yankees memorabilia are now posted on GovDeals.com, according to Arthur Abline, the township's emergency management coordinator who manages Manchester's accounts on the website.

A lot of jewelry posted for sale by the township has received over 50 bids totalling more than $800 as of Thursday night. A coin set is going for over $300, and an autographed baseball has $50 in bids. Searching for "Manchester" on the site will turn up all results.

"I think some of the residents may find some of the baseball items of real interest," said councilmember Samuel Fusaro at the June council meeting when the items were approved for auction. "If you are baseball fans, there are some items you will be shocked to see are available. There are some other interesting items there."

The items for sale are unclaimed property or materials confiscated by police, according to council President Craig Wallis.

Manchester receives the majority of the money from the online sales as GovDeals charges a 7.5 percent fee off the sale price. Money raised through the sales goes into the township's general fund or the Law Enforcement Trust account, Abline has said.
