UPDATE: No Injuries In Crash At Route 539 In Manchester

Township police had several weather-related crashes to deal with but none involving serious injuries, as of early evening.

UPDATE, 9:30 p.m.: Manchester Township police responded to seven crashes by early evening on Thursday as a result of the slick driving conditions.

Capt. Todd Malland said those crashes included the one on Route 539 at Cherry Street, a single-vehicle crash where a car struck a utility pole. The impact broke the pole at its base, and it fell across the road, causing the road to be closed most of the day while Jersey Central Power & Light replaced the pole.

The roadway was reopened by 6 p.m., he said.
