Training Exercises Bringing Extra Noise At Joint Base, Manchester Police Say
Training exercises at the Joint Base were listed as moderately noisy on the base's noise calendar.

JOINT BASE McGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, NJ — Training exercises at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst are anticipated to be more noisy on Friday, according to Manchester Township police.
In an alert to township residents, Manchester police said the base "will be conducting training exercises throughout the day. Residents may experience increased noise in the area."
Joint Base officials have said in the past that training is an ongoing mission at the base and happens daily to varying degrees.

The base issues a monthly noise calendar that highlights anticipated noise levels due to training, and the level listed for March 20 was "moderate." That can include noise from rocket fire, .50-caliber weapons and rotary cannons.
Base officials did not say whether the training Friday was at a higher noise level.

Residents in the area reported hearing loud booms late Thursday evening in the area. Base officials have not said it was related to training, but some training is conducted late in the evening.
