Woman Who Died In Accidental House Fire In Manchester Identified

A second woman who was injured in the fire in Cedar Glen West remains hospitalized, the prosecutor's office said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — A Manchester woman who was found dead after a fire at a Cedar Glen West home on Sunday died from smoke inhalation, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said Thursday.

Katarina Seboova, 73, whose identity was released Thursday, died of asphyxia and her death was accidental, according to the Ocean County Medical Examiner. Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said the medical examiner performed the autopsy on Monday to determine her cause of death.

A second woman who lived at the home on Heron Street remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition, Billhimer said Thursday. She had told authorities that Seboova was still in the home but police were unable to rescue Seboova.

The fire that was reported about 6:50 p.m. Sunday was ruled accidental; investigators determined it started from smoking materials discarded in a garbage can on the patio, the prosecutor's office said Tuesday.
