Weather Alert: Severe Thunderstorms Possible In Next Few Hours

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Ocean County through 9 p.m.; storms moving into N.J. now

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northwestern Ocean County, as storms begin to move into the state.

Doppler radar just before 5 p.m. picked up a line of severe thunderstorms moving through Mercer County at 15 mph. The weather service says the storms may produce hail up to the size of a quarter and wind in excess of 60 mph.

More storms were moving through Philadelphia and farther to the south, according to the radar, and the rest of Ocean County remains under a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m.
