There are seven weeks remaining in 2014. Here’s what’s on tap this week in Manchester:
Tonight, the Manchester Township Council meets at 6 at the municipal building. On the agenda is the second hearing and possible passage of an ordinance increasing fines for those who allow a vacant property to fall into disrepair.
Tuesday is Veterans Day. Federal, state, county and municipal offices are closed. The district’s schools are open. There is no mail delivery.

The township is holding a Veterans Day remembrance ceremony at 11 a.m. at the municipal building, and the county will be honoring veterans with it annual Ocean County Veterans Day Parade down Main Street in Toms River. The parade concludes with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Veterans Monument in downtown Toms River. The parade begins at 9:30 a.m.
On Wednesday, the Manchester Branch of the Ocean County Library is hosting a film festival, showing “Million Dollar Arm,” the story of a sports agent who believes he can go to India, find a cricket bowler, and teach him to be a baseball pitcher. In order to pay for the scheme he convinces wealthy businessman Chang to create a reality show titled “ Million Dollar Arm” to help with his quest for fresh talent. 124 minutes. It is being shown at noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

On Thursday, students and staff at Manchester Township High School will hold a Veterans Day Remembrance ceremony at the school. Registration for the ceremony begins at 1:50 p.m. Contact Jill Ocone at the high school, 732-657-2121 or by email, jocone@manchestertwp.org, for details.
On Saturday, the Manchester football team travels to Lacey for a 1 p.m. NJSIAA consolation game.
