1. A flapjack fundraiser for Trevor Martin, a sophomore at  who was diagnosed two weeks ago with acute myelogenous leukemia, will be held Saturday at the  from 8 to 10 a.m. For $10, a breakfast of pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and beverage will be provided. Tickets can be purchased by contacting high school vice principal Evelyn Swift or boys head basketball coach Ryan Ramsay at 732-657-2121. Those who cannot attend the breakfast are welcome to make a donation.

2. "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" will be performed Saturday by students from the Ocean County Vocational Technical School's Performing Arts Academy at 2 and 7 p.m. at the Strand Center for the Arts in Lakewood. Call 732-367-7789 for ticket information.

3.The begins at 9 a.m. Saturday on the beach in front of the Aztec in Seaside Heights. The plunge benefits the Special Olympics.

4. A free financial aid workshop will be held in the atrium at Ocean County College from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Students and parents must bring complete copies of their 2011 federal income tax returns and W-2s. For complete details and to register, call 732-255-0400, ext. 2019.

5.  The Lakehurst Historical Society will be open Sunday from 12 to 3 p.m. Housed in the oldest Roman Catholic Church in Ocean County on 300 Center St. in Lakehurst, the society contains artifacts from the borough's rich history. A friendly staff is more than willing to provide tours and answer questions. Call 732-657-8864 for more information.
