Weekend Planner: Manchester Independence Day Celebration

1. Manchester will hold its Independence Day Celebration at Harry Wright Lake in Whiting beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday.  including shuttle information and times for bands and fireworks. 

2. Children ages 5 and up can search for fossils inside Manchester's branch of the Ocean County Library at 11 a.m. Saturday. Items include shark teeth, coral and bones and children keep whatever they find.

3. Also at the library Saturday, The Music with Friends: Musical Fun for Kids with Autism program will begin at 1 p.m. Children ages 6 through 9 and their parents are welcome. More information is available by calling 732-657-7600.

4. Watch the Phillies' Ryan Howard this weekend when he joins the Lakewood BlueClaws Saturday against the Virginia Power at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday versus the Hagerstown Suns, also at 7:05 p.m. Call 732-901-7000 for ticket information.

5. The Lakehurst Historical Society will be open Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Housed in the oldest Roman Catholic Church in Ocean County on 300 Center St. in Lakehurst, the society houses artifacts from the borough's rich history. A friendly staff can provide tours and answer questions. Call 732-657-8864 for more information.
