Whiting Man Critically Injured, 2nd Man Hurt In Head-On Crash On Route 530

The crash shut down Route 530 for about three hours on Friday, police said.

BERKELEY, NJ — Two people were injured Friday in a head-on crash that shut down Route 530 near Miller Air Park in Berkeley Township on Friday, police said.

William Posa, 79, of Whiting, suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to Atlantic City Medical Center for treatment, Berkeley Township police said. He was listed as stable as of Monday, police said.

Daniel Coliente Lune, 33, of Toms River, was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

The crash happened about 6:30 a.m. Friday on Pinewald-Keswick Road, also known as Route 530, near Dover Road, police said.

Posa was driving east in a Kia Optima when he veered left and crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic, hitting a Nissan Altima driven by Coliente Lune, who was unable to avoid the head-on crash, police said.

Pinewald-Keswick Road was closed for nearly three hours during the investigation and removal of the cars.

Police said the investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
