Whiting Reading Room Closed Until Monday, Library System Says

The Ocean County Library system said the location is being closed temporarily.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Damage from a small fire in a building adjacent to the Whiting Reading Center has led to the center being closed for a few days for maintenance, Ocean County Library system officials said Friday.

The library system announced the closure Thursday evening but did not give a reason for the closure.

The reading center is in the Whiting Commons Shopping Center, 400 Lacey Road. It is expected to reopen on Monday.

"Patrons and visitors are welcome to browse, check out and return items at the library’s 20 other locations throughout Ocean County," the release said.

Library patrons can request books, check out the calendar of events and the library's digital services and databases through the Ocean County Library's website, www.theoceancountylibrary.org.

The library website also has information on voting in the election, the 2020 Census and resources and information on the coronavirus and COVID-19, the illness it causes.

Visitors of all ages will find books, games, homework help and research guidance as well on the website.
