Wildfire At 82 Acres, 100 Percent Contained In Northern Ocean

The wildfire, dubbed the Glory Wildfire by the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, continues to burn but is no longer spreading.

JACKSON, NJ — A wildfire has been 100 percent contained after consuming 82 acres of forest in Jackson Township, according to the state forest fire service.

The Glory Wildfire, as the New Jersey Forest Fire Service has dubbed it, was fully surrounded by fire breaks as of about 3 p.m. Wednesday, officials said.

Firefighters will be continuing to monitor the area to extinguish spot fires and hot spots "until significant precipitation occurs," to ensure the fire doesn't reignite.

All of the homes that were threatened are no longer at risk the fire service said, and there were no injuries reported.

The cause of the wildfire remains under investigation.
