Woman Dies In Head-On Crash On Route 70, Manchester Police Say

MANCHESTER, NJ — A Toms River woman was killed Thursday in a head-on crash on Route 70 in Manchester, police said.

Tammy Huth, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that happened about 5:15 p.m. Thursday near milemarker 43 on Route 70, Manchester Capt. Albert Vega said.

Huth was driving a gray 2019 Honda Civic east on Route 70 when her car crossed the center line and hit a white 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD that was being driven west by Colin Michaelis, 32, of Lindenwold, Vega said.

Both vehicles came to a final rest in the westbound lane of Route 70, he said.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and the airbags in both vehicles deployed, Vega said.

Michaelis suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries from the crash, he said.

Huth was unresponsive to first responders, Vega said.

Route 70 was closed while the crash was investigated and the road cleared of debris.

Patrolman Sage Sysol is investigating the crash.

Assisting at the scene were EMTs and firefighters from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, Ocean County Sheriff's Office C.S.I, the Ocean County Medical Examiner, Whiting Volunteer Fire Department, New Jersey Department of Transportation, New Jersey State Police, Priced Rite Towing, and Oliverie Funeral Home.
