Woman Hit By Vehicle While Walking Dog In Manchester: Police

Breaking: Her injuries were not life-threatening; the dog was not hurt, police said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — An Ocean County woman was injured Wednesday when she was hit by a car while walking her dog in Manchester, police said Thursday.

Patricia O’Conner, 61, of Lakewood, was taken to Community Medical Center, Toms River, for treatment of pain in her left leg, Manchester Capt.Todd Malland said. Her dog,l a black Labrador retriever, was not injured in the incident in the Renaissance adult community, he said.

The accident occurred about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Malland said. The preliminary investigation shows O’Conner was walking her dog and crossing from Courtney Lane onto Renaissance Boulevard when she was struck by a 2013 Nissan Rogue being driven by Joseph Cillo, 70, of Manchester, he said.

O'Conner was walking south on Courtney Lane and crossing onto Renaissance when she was hit by Cillo, who was driving east on Renaissane Boulevard, Malland said.

The black Lab was released to the care of O'Conner's brother, he said.

Assisting at the scene were members of the Manchester Volunteer First Aid Squad. The accident is being investigated by Patrolman Gavin Reilly of the Department’s Patrol Bureau and Patrolman Ian Bole of the Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
