Women Charged With Heroin Possession, Distribution In Lakehurst

A Toms River woman has been charged with heroin distribution and a Manchester woman charged with possession after Lakehurst police stopped a Jeep that had a suspended registration.
Kristen Bloss, 40, of Toms River, and Shelley Berger, 57, of Manchester, are facing multiple charges in the incident, which happened Thursday, July 16, Lakehurst Police Chief Eric Higgins said.
Officer Jason Guide stopped a 2000 Jeep Cherokee in the parking lot of 7-Eleven about 1 a.m. after a computerized lookup of the license plate showed the vehicle’s registration was suspended, Higgins said. During the motor vehicle stop, Guide saw signs of drug use within the Jeep, and his subsequent investigation uncovered 16 bags of heroin, a crack pipe, and a hypodermic needle from the front-seat passenger, Bloss, he said.

Berger, the driver, was found to be in possession of two bags of heroin, he said. Both Bloss and Berger were arrested and processed.
Bloss was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic needle, distribution of heroin, and distribution of CDS within 1000 feet of a school. She later posted $25,000 bail, according to court records.

Berger was charged with possession of heroin, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, and suspended registration. She was released on summonses, Higgins said. The Lakehurst Police Department was assisted by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit.
