Hit-And-Run Driver Crashes Into 12-Year-Old Bicyclist In Somerset County, Police Say

A 12-year-old girl was riding her bicycle in a crosswalk with a flashing beacon when she was hit by an SUV, said police.

MANVILLE, NJ — A 12-year-old bicyclist in a crosswalk was hit by an SUV before the driver fled the scene on Tuesday night in Manville, said police.

At 8:35 p.m., an SUV, driven by Pradyumna Chinnammagari, 59, of Green Brook, was traveling north on South Main Street, said Manville Police Lt. John Crater.

A 12-year-old girl was riding her bike in a crosswalk with a flashing beacon east across the road when she was hit by the SUV, said Crater.

The driver hit the child's rear tire and left the scene, said Crater.

Chinnammagari was found by police in the Walmart parking lot.

The bicyclist was treated on scene by the rescue squad and declined any further treatment.

Chinnammagari was issued summonses for failure to report, leaving the scene, and failure to yield right away to a pedestrian.
