Manville Schools To Consider K-12 Literacy Coach, Tuition Contracts

MANVILLE, NJ — Manville’s Board of Education is scheduled to consider hiring Jenna Hawkswell as the district’s K-12 literacy coach and Laura Simini as a teacher at Manville High School, along with other personnel actions, when it meets Wednesday.

The Board of Education meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Manville High School Cafe A.

For Manville residents, the meeting offers a chance to hear the board consider district staffing and student-placement items and to weigh in on agenda items during the public-comment period.

According to the board’s agenda, Hawkswell’s compensation is $94,550, and the board is set to consider two out-of-district contracts. The agenda lists a receiving student from Hillsborough School District at Manville High School for the 2026-27 school year, with $36,000 in tuition. It also lists a receiving student from Berkeley Township School District at Alexander Batcho Intermediate School for the 2026-27 school year, with $24,311 in tuition.

Also on the agenda: Nicholas McFarland, a teacher at Manville High School, is listed for resignation. The agenda includes “general updates,” a superintendent’s report and student recognitions.

The meeting agenda states: “We believe in the potential of our students, the ability of our teachers and administrators, and the support of our parents and community. Every child. Every day.”

The agenda calls for public comment and says comments are limited to three minutes per speaker.
