2 Mercedes Broken Into In Maplewood Last Week, 1 Stolen And Recovered Elsewhere
A Mercedes was stolen from Maplewood and another was burglarized, police said. The first was found in another town.
MAPLEWOOD, NJ — One Mercedes was stolen from Maplewood a week ago, and another was burglarized, according to police reports from Feb. 11-16.
According to reports:
On Friday, Feb. 11, an unlocked Mercedes Benz with the keys left inside was stolen from a driveway of a resident of Fairview Terrace. The person parked it at 9 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2023 and noticed it missing Saturday at 9 a.m. Several days later, it was recovered in Newark.

On Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, a person told police he heard the car horn of his unlocked Mercedes sounding early in the morning. He looked out and saw a "black male approximately 14 years old wearing a black sweatshirt rummaging through his vehicle," police said. The person ran down Hillcrest Road toward Irvington Avenue, police said. The man said his wallet was taken.
February 13, 2023: Larceny/Theft: A Catalytic Convertor was removed from a work van
that was parked in a private lot on Ohio Street. Owner reported parking his van on
Friday, February 10 and when he returned on Monday, February 13 at 8 am he
discovered the Catalytic Convertor was removed from his vehicle.
