2 Robberies Reported In Maplewood: Police
Maplewood police reported that two recent robberies took place in the township on Franklin Avenue and Orchard Road/Parker Avenue.

Maplewood, NJ – Maplewood police reported that two recent robberies took place in the township on Franklin Avenue and Orchard Road/Parker Avenue.
According to the Maplewood Police Department, the first incident took place around 2:45 a.m. on May 11 on Franklin Avenue.
The male victim told officers that he was on his way to meet a female that he had corresponded with online. However, once the man arrived, he was met by a male who pushed an object into his side and told him it was a gun, police said.

The suspect then stole money from the victim and fled the scene, police said.
Police said that the victim was uninjured in the incident.

Officers arrested Adam Kitchens, 23, of Irvington, the same day and charged him with robbery and weapons offenses.
He was later transferred to Essex County Jail, police stated.
MASKED MEN
Maplewood police say that another robbery was reported around 1 a.m. on May 15 near Orchard Road and Parker Avenue.
According to police, a 33-year-old Maplewood resident told officers that he was walking in the area when two men wearing partial masks approached him.
One of the suspects allegedly pointed a long-barreled gun at the victim and demanded his belongings, police said.
The males then fled on foot with the victim’s phone, driver’s license and passport, authorities stated.
The victim wasn’t injured in the incident, according to police.
