3 Men Attempt To Burglarize Maplewood Home, Police Say

The resident heard knocking sounds coming from the first floor and went to investigate. Here's what she saw, police said.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — An attempted home burglary took place in Maplewood last week, authorities say.

According to the Maplewood Police Department, officers responded to a Berkshire Road home at 3:39 a.m. on Feb. 17 after getting a report about a burglary attempt.

The caller told police that she heard knocking sounds coming from the first floor. When she went downstairs and opened the front door, she saw three unknown men dressed in black fleeing the property. The men got into a white sedan and fled the scene, authorities said.

Officers found a front window screen ajar while searching the outside of the property, police said.
