After Jogger Struck By Car In Maplewood, Driver Will Get Summons: Police

A driver struck a jogger at a Maplewood intersection Friday evening, leaving him with "serious" injuries.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — A driver whose car struck a jogger at a Maplewood intersection on Friday night will be issued a summons, Police Chief Jim DeVaul said. Meanwhile, the 20-year-old victim has been treated for serious injuries.

Police had said in a Nixle message to residents on Friday night, "Motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian in the area of Boyden Ave and Menzel Ave. Police and First Aid on scene."

DeVaul said Monday that a 20-year-old man was jogging north up Boyden Avenue and was crossing Menzel Avenue in the crosswalk. At that point, DeVaul said, a car turning right onto Menzel struck him.
