MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Maplewood police arrested a burglary suspect after officers found him hiding behind a bush near a local home last week, authorities announced Monday.
According to the Maplewood Police Department, officers responded to a Parker Avenue home around 8 p.m. on Wednesday after getting a report about a home burglary in progress.
The caller told police that an unknown man tried to pry open a window, and that he was still at the property.
When officers arrived, they found a man trying to hide behind a bush and holding a screwdriver. He also had two other screwdrivers in his possession, police said.
The man – later identified as Elys Bonhomme, 39, of Irvington – was charged with burglary and three counts of possession of burglary tools. He was transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, authorities said.
