MAPLEWOOD, NJ — A group of assailants jumped a juvenile in Maplewood and beat him up earlier this month, authorities say.
According to the Maplewood Police Department, officers responded to Springfield and Boyden avenues at 6:09 p.m. on July 1 after getting a report about an assault.
The victim told officers that a group of male suspects threw him to the ground, then punched and kicked him several times in the head and neck.
Emergency responders transported the victim to police headquarters for safekeeping and evaluation. The victim's mother responded to the station to pick him up. Further medical attention was declined, authorities said.
