Brach Eichler’s Mark Manigan is Healthcare Panelist at First Annual New Jersey: State of the State Conference

Mark Manigan, a member of Brach Eichler L.L.C.’s health law practice group, recently served as a panelist at the first annual New Jersey: State of the State conference which was convened by the Council on State Public Affairs on October 27, 2011. Manigan served as a panelist with Patrick Donahue, vice president of Benefits Barnabas Health, and Dr. Robert Eidus, president of the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians. Christine Stearns, vice president of New Jersey Business and Industry Association, served as a moderator for the discussion “Healthcare in New Jersey: Who Will Pay the Bill?”.
The panel discussion addressed the issue of healthcare costs as a growing burden for patients and employers in New Jersey. Manigan noted, “Part of the solution is that public policy needs to drive better management of care and an increase in preventative care so that less care is needed.”
As a partner at Brach Eichler, his practice focuses on the representation of health care industry participants on business transactions and regulatory matters. He serves a wide spectrum of health care clients, including ambulatory care facilities, hospitals, physician groups, long-term care facilities, real estate operators and health care entrepreneurs. Manigan serves as general counsel for many health care companies and has been retained as special health care counsel by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court Trustee.

Manigan is a member of Brach Eichler's executive committee. He was named to Governor-Elect Chris Christie's Transition Team, serving on the health care subcommittee. He was also selected by the chairman of the New Jersey State Assembly Financial Institution and Insurance Committee Gary Schaer to serve on a working group analyzing out-of-network health insurance issues.
A resident of Maplewood, Manigan, was ranked #12 by NJBIZ’s "Power 50 Health Care," and has been named to "Forty Under 40" by both the New Jersey Law Journal and NJ Biz. Widely regarded as an advocate for health care providers in the state, Manigan has also been selected by his peers every year since 2006 as a New Jersey Super Lawyer - Rising Star. In addition, Surgistrategies Magazine named him to its December 2009 list of Who’s Who in Ambulatory Surgery.”

A graduate of Bucknell University and Seton Hall University School of Law, Manigan is a frequent lecturer at industry events, is a member of the New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania bars, and a member of the Board of Trustees of The Center for Great Expectations, a non-profit residential treatment center for pregnant, homeless and drug-addicted women in New Jersey.
