Another Springfield Avenue Business Closes
The fortunes of Springfield Avenue remain mixed as Round Table closes. Now if that sushi restaurant could just hurry up and open. . . .

Fans of Springfield Avenue and of Round Table—a business that provides tutoring and enrichment programs for kids—are suffering a blow. Round Table will be holding a closing sale this Saturday as it prepares to close the doors of its Springfield Avenue location, at least temporarily.
Round Table will continue to run after-school programs, camps and classes—just not at 1923 Springfield Avenue. Visit their Web site for updates on times, classes and locations.
The news of the location closing comes as Springfield Avenue juggles good news and bad news alike with The Beaded Path moving to South Orange Village in March while a new sushi place plans to open across the street and Walgreen's moves forward with site preparation near the municipal court and police building further east on Springfield Avenue. Last fall, Top Hat & Tails moved to a new, larger location on the Avenue at the Yale Street Commons building.

Round Table will be holding a closing sale Saturday, February 27, from 10 a.m. to noon and from 3-7 p.m. (Yes, the sale is still on, despite the weather.) All furniture will be for sale, including chirs, wooden benches, big craft tables and carpets, as well as merchandise including educational toys, games, books, music books and accessories.
Plus, those singular knights' head doors are for sale.

A recent e-mail notice from the owners proclaimed: "As you know, we're closing our doors on Springfield Avenue due to the economy and other situations beyond our control. Our beautiful 'castle' is still available to rent—please spread the word, and let us know if you need more details."
Co-owner Lorraine Labonne Storch explained, "We will still be operating under the Round Table name for certain activities, and Math for Laughs—which actually came first—will continue to run independently so to speak. Hopefully, the weather will have settled down and we will have a good turnout tomorrow."
Those interested in subletting the Springfield Avenue space can contact Round Table co-owner Susan Dillon at 973-477-4229.
