Anti-ICE Protesters Rally In Maplewood-South Orange After Local Arrests
Federal immigration agents recently arrested two roofers, a handyman and the sous chef at a restaurant, advocates say.
MAPLEWOOD, NJ — An impromptu anti-ICE protest took place in Essex County on Wednesday morning, with demonstrators decrying the recent arrests of four people in Maplewood and South Orange.
Federal immigration agents arrested two roofers, a handyman and the sous chef at a local restaurant on Friday.
Three local groups – SOMA Action, SOMA Justice, and SOMA Community Cares – held a protest in support of the detainees at the corner of Springfield Avenue and Prospect Street in Maplewood.
