Applications Available To Join Maplewood's Bravest

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Those with an interest in joining Maplewood's bravest can pick up their application now.

The Maplewood Fire Department will be conducting a written entrance exam for the position of Firefighter/EMT on Saturday, April 27 at the Morris County Fire Academy. Applications are available online or can be picked up at Fire HQ, 105 Dunnell Road. Applications must be returned in person to Maplewood Fire HQ with all required documentation and the $35 application fee.

The application fee must be a certified check or money order payable to the Township of Maplewood – cash is not accepted.

A physical examination is scheduled for May 11 and May 12 at the Morris County Fire Academy. Candidates who successfully pass the written exam with a minimum score of 70 will be eligible to take the physical examination. Successful candidates will be notified via email of the date and time they should report for the physical examination.

A course walk-through and practice sessions for the physical exam will be held at the Morris County Fire Academy on May 6 and May 8 between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on both dates.

Officials said it is strongly recommended that eligible candidates for the physical exam attend one or both practice sessions to familiarize themselves with the evolutions. Officials noted walk throughs will not be conducted on exam days.
