SOUTH ORANGE AND MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Back-to-school planning has begun in New Jersey. With COVID still a factor, boards of education have often had to adjust school schedules several times throughout the year — meaning parents must always check back to see if the calendar is updated, before making plans.

As of the current calendar, in the South-Orange Maplewood school district, schools reopen to students on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022. Teachers must report the week before.

This year, students get a full week in November off for "Fall Break," which includes Veteran's Day and the NJEA Convention days.
