Blog: Philip Roth's Memories of Maplewood
A commuter blog brings a passing literary reference to Maplewood to our attention.
It shouldn't be a surprise that Philip Roth made a passing reference to Maplewood in his early novella, Goodbye Columbus. The Portnoy's Complaint author is after all, from Newark, where GC is set. But still, it's nice to see (even though, in the passage, Maplewood comes off as an IBM-man town full of suits).
The commuter blog Trainjotting has excerpted the relevant passage. Read the whole thing here: The Trainjotting Reader: Goodbye Columbus.
