CHS Special Dance Performs This Week
Performances are in the school auditorium on May 15 and 16.

Columbia High School's award-winning Special Dance Company, now in its 37th year, will perform on May 15 and 16 at 8 p.m. in the school auditorium.
Tickets are $10 at the door, but can be purchased in advance for $8 at Maplewood Pizzeria and The Corner Deli.
“The students are artists and choreographers,” said Kandice Point-du-Jour, physical education teacher and dance company director, in a statement. “Their work in class goes far beyond preparing for this year-end performance. The students learn the history of dance, improvisation, and the elements of choreography as well.”

“Special Dance is most important to me because of the relationships I establish and strengthen every year,” said Danica Little, one of the two captains. “We truly are one big family."
Little's co-captain, Adija Manley, added, "I love being in Special Dance because it has helped me grow as a dancer and choreographer, meet people, and do something I love."

The Columbia dancers recently had the opportunity to take a master class, when Rutgers University student performers and their artistic director, Randy James, visited the school.
