Coney Island Grill in Landlord/Tenant Dispute
While the business owners and landlord work to resolve the issue, the business is shuttered.
MOL has been abuzz with talk about the sudden departure of Coney Island Grill at Boyden Avenue and Springfield Avenue.
When Patch spoke with owner Cathy Pennetta at the October 31 Harvest Fest event, Pennetta and husband Chris seemed very bullish on Springfield Avenue and committed to the future of the business at that location. They had just installed pizza ovens in order to add pizza to their menu of boardwalk favorites and barbecued items.
But last week, the site went dark and signs started disappearing.

Patch caught up with Springfield Avenue Partnership director Beth Macdonald who filled us in. Macdonald has spoken with Cathy Pennetta. It turns out that the Pennettas are embroiled in a rent dispute with their landlord that has taken a rather aggressive tack. They are hoping to resolve the situation and reopen at the location.
