DeLuca Joins 'Mayors Against Illegal Guns' for Super Bowl Ad
Maplewood Mayor belongs to group sponsoring Super Bowl ad.
In a small but important way, Maplewood's own Mayor Vic DeLuca will be part of the Super Bowl advertising frenzy this Sunday.
No, DeLuca will not be the latest Go Daddy model.
Rather, he's part of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns coalition. The group will be releasing their new Super Bowl ad this Sunday during the half-time show in the Washington, D.C. media market — where the coalition thinks the ad will do the most good. The ad features New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Tom Menino making gentle jabs related to their Super Bowl rivalry, but agreeing on one thing — their campaign against illegal guns.

An email from the coalition stated, "We're already seeing quite a bit of buzz as the ad goes viral."
DeLuca noted that when he was in Boston on December 1 for a conference, he ran into Menino, "and we discussed Maplewood and my being a signer of MAIG. He thanked me and that wished us well in Maplewood."
