'Disgruntled' Employee Shot At Boss: Maplewood Police

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - A 38-year-old Plainfield man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after firing a weapon at his manager on Friday, Sept. 13, according to the Maplewood Police Department.
Andres Antonio Vela-Ruiz Quijon has been charged with possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and aggravated assault, police said.
Maplewood officers responded to General Movers, located at 228 Burnett Ave. on a report of a disgruntled employee having discharged a firearm at his manager before fleeing the scene, according to Maplewood Police Chief Jim DeVaul.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male wearing a blue General Movers shirt and carrying a black bag who fled the location on foot. Officers located and detained Quijon, who matched the description, on Florida Street and he was identified as the person involved, DeVaul said.
Police found Quijon discarded the handgun as he fled and patrols recovered a .22 caliber revolver near where the arrest was made, DeVaul said.

DeVaul said there are no reported injuries and it is undetermined at this time how many shots were fired.
