Joshua, Siders, Wright Lead S. Orange-Maplewood School Board Race
The 2019 South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education. race is over, and Erin Siders, Joanna Wright and Thair Joshua lead the candidate pack.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The polls are closed in Maplewood, and results have started coming in for the South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education.
The candidates in bold are the ones leading with all districts reporting in and unofficial until results are confirmed by the election clerk. Essex County Clerk Chris Durkin's office stopped updating the election results at 10:04 p.m. with 25 of the 33 districts reported.

- Stephanie Lawson-Muhammad (2,091 or 13.89 percent of the total votes)
- Johanna Wright (2,679 or 17.80 percent of the total votes)
- Narda Chisholm-Greene (1,537 or 10.21 percent of the total votes)
- Thair Joshua (2,888 or 19.19 percent of the total votes)
- Erin Siders (3,185 or 21.16 percent of the total votes)
- Carey P. Smith (897 or 5.96 percent of the total votes)
- Sharon Tanenbaum Kraus (1,718 or 11.42 percent of the total votes)
As far as the governing body in Maplewood, that is a little simpler. Democrat Deputy Mayor Frank McGehee is running unopposed for the Township Committee. Due to the uncontested nature of the race Patch is projecting McGhee the winner at the close of the polls.
