Essex County Man Shot Dead In Front Of Family: Report

The 29-year-old construction worker leaves a wife and an 8-year-old son behind, a report says.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A 29-year-old Essex County construction worker was shot dead during an apparent robbery attempt on Monday night in Irvington. At least one of the man’s family members allegedly witnessed the fatal shooting, a report says.

Marco Angamarca-Yupa, 29, of Irvington, died after being shot around 11 p.m. on the 800-block of Grove Street, according to a joint statement from Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert Laurino and Irvington Police Director Tracy Bowers.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the motive may have been robbery, police stated.

Angamarca-Yupa’s godfather, Alberto Alvarez, told NBC New York that one of the victim's relatives watched from a window while the shooting unfolded.

"I saw the wife on the floor hysterically crying and his son hysterical," said a neighbor. "I just saw him laying there and I called 911.”
