A Community Celebration of local art and artists, celebrating the 100th Birthday of South Orange native, Tony Smith
Calling all artists! The world renowned sculptor and creator of TAU in Meadowland Park, Tony Smith, would have turned 100 on September 23, 2012. Join the Lennie Pierro Memorial Arts Foundation and the Village of South Orange in a celebration of Smith’s centennial with an all-out community art “happening” in Meadowland Park.
In addition to work by local artists, the celebration will include the unveiling of a plaque highlighting Tony Smith, TAU and the contributions of those who made the installation in 2008 possible; the presentation of future plans for lighting the sculpture; and the launch of a new www.tonysmithsouthorange.org website. The public event is free, rain or shine, North Ridgewood Road, South Orange. Light refreshments will be served.
