Area residents are already bustling with word of the annual Colonial Crossroads Oktoberfest event, to take place on the lawn of the Chapter house on October 1st. The honorees this year are Dr. Jerome P. Zeldis, CEO of Celgene Corporation, and former New Providence Mayor Al Morgan. The event promises an evening of live music, dancing, beer and wine tastings in a fall setting. The event will help support the vital life-saving mission areas of our local chapter in the 10 communities of Berkeley Heights, Chatham Borough, Chatham Township, East Hanover, Florham Park, Long Hill Township, Madison, New Providence, Springfield and Summit.
It is also an opportunity for the county to get together and celebrate Colonial Crossroads Red Cross partnerships with more than 40 regional businesses, civil and religious organizations, high schools and universities, service clubs, volunteer squads, medical centers and various city departments -- who host scheduled blood drives, give donations or volunteer for Chapter activities. It is also the place, where we update our sponsors and reflect upon the previous year’s activities.
“The fundraiser of silent auction items provide resources for this effort and allow regional business, both small and large, to take part in the volunteer spirit of this organization,” reiterates Christy Hodde, the Executive Director of Colonial Crossroads. “They remind us of the good carried out by the Red Cross, and are a way for us to wholeheartedly thank our local supporters.” We are proud to be associated with generous corporate sponsors, community advocates and family of patrons, who keep the Chapter active.
