Herbal Medicine the Wise Woman Way at Durand-Hedden

Sunday, September 30 the Durand-Hedden House will turn its focus to the often unseen wonders of the natural world which surround us when it presents Herbal Medicine the Wise Woman Way with NJ herbalist Robin Rose Bennett.  From 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Robin Rose will lead visitors on a stroll through the Maplewood Garden Club Herb Garden and less tamed areas of Grasmere Park to explore the nourishing, medicinal flowers, fruits, and seeds of the season. She will share stories and recipes, many used historically by earlier occupants of the area, that highlight how simple uses of common plants can profoundly benefit your health, including strengthening your bones, helping your digestion, and soothing your nerves.

Robin Rose Bennett, founder of Wisewoman Healing Ways: Herbal Medicine and EarthSpirit Teachings, has taught herbal medicine since 1986 at herb conferences, festivals, community clinics, medical and nursing schools, and with the plants in community gardens, public parks, and on city streets. She is the author of Healing Magic- A Green Witch Guidebook to Conscious Living and the forthcoming, Green Treasures- Herbal Medicines from Mother Earth.

The Durand-Hedden House is located in Grasmere Park at 523 Ridgewood Road in Maplewood.  The house and the grounds will be open for viewing from 1:00–4:00 p.m. on September 30.  For more information call 973-763-7712.
