The 2010 summer program of ORNG Ink has been a huge
success in engaging a wider range of young artists in Orange and the
surrounding community.
With the goal being to facilitate the design and production of a youth art festival in Orange, the staff and volunteer mentors at ORNG Ink have supported our young artists, thinkers and designers in the creation of Inkalicious.
Recognizing the need to reach more of their peers, and the larger local community, our youth participants wanted to create an open and free event where they could share their creativity, vision and skills with others in a way that was entertaining, participatory, challenging and fun.
On Saturday, August 14th,2010, from 11am-6pm, our studio grounds at Ironworks (406 Tomkins St. in Orange, NJ) will be transformed into an interactive indoor/outdoor festival grounds that combines live performances, art workshops, food and fun. Some of the exciting features of the event are listed below.
- An Indoor Stage Area where local youth performers can share their emerging talents with a larger audience of their peers.
- A 100 sq. ft Greenhouse that will host tours and sponsor a salad making competition judged by local chefs.
- A Multimedia Café where you can cool off and participate in workshops on music recording and studio photography.
- An Internet Lounge where participants can share their real-time experiences at Inkalicious with the world.
- A Workshop Studio with lessons in t-shirt printing, book making and more.
- An Outdoor Collaborative Art Space where trained artists create spontaneous works with youth participants.
Inkalicious is our effort to create a critical mass of creativity that provides a platform for youth to interact with adults and one another in way that encourages teamwork, communication and positivity through the arts as both patrons and participants. The ORNG Ink is a program of ValleyArts
