Making Change the Better Way

Martha Gallahue will discuss change and how to accomplish it gracefully at our Sunday Platform at 11:00 AM on January 23rd. From the personal to the political, many of us think change is difficult, but is it? Ultimately, all changes boil down to behaving in a new way. Why do we sometimes resist change and sometimes welcome it? Martha will discuss the topic from 35 years experience as a psychotherapist and a recent book, Switch: How to Change When Change is Hard by Dan Heath.

"A licensed psychoanalyst, Ms. Gallahue received her Master's Degree in Comparative Religion in a joint program with Columbia University and Union Theological Seminary in 1970 and certification through the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis in 1980. With more than 30 years of professional experience, Ms. Gallahue works with individuals and groups who are going through transitions. In addition to her private practice, she is a representative for the National Service Conference of the American Ethical Union at The United Nations, having earlier served as its President. (www.nationalserviceaeu.org). As a non-governmental representative at the UN, she was elected to the Executive Council of the CONGO Committee Spirituality, Values and Global Concerns (www.csvgc-ny.org). Formerly, she was a Dominican Sister in a teaching Order. She attributes her success to perseverance, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor." - NEW YORK, NY, October 10, 2008 /Cambridge Who's Who/

Martha was inducted as a clergy leader with the American Ethical Union in May, 2009, and is now acting as our Transitional Leader as we search for a new Leader here at Ethical Culture Society of Essex County.
