Nancy Bohn will display and describe her unique collection of original brass rubbings at the 3rd Saturday Arts Night from 7 to 9 PM on May 21, 2011, at the Ethical Culture Society of Essex County, 516 Prospect St., Maplewood, NJ. Nancy created her brass rubbings directly from original "commemorative brass plaques found in churches, usually originally on the floor, from between the 13th and 16th centuries"* while living in England in the 1960's with her husband, Dick. Since then rubbings taken from the originals have been greatly restricted and are now limited mostly to replicas which may not be the same scale as the original.
Nancy and Dick are long term members of our Society, and were residents of the world with Dick's job with Ford Motor Company before retiring to Maplewood .
A 3rd Saturday Arts evening salon is meant to be an informal conversation with and about the artist of the evening and her work. Refreshments are served throughout to help create a convivial ambiance. The event is free and open to the public.
