Ray held a trowel before he could walk, and has since won hundreds of awards for his outstanding exhibits. He worked at the Morris Arboretum in Philadelphia, PA and the American Horticultural Society’s River Farm in Alexandria, VA. He then went on to edit and co-author numerous horticultural titles while he was winning all those many blue ribbons. Ray is also a home gardener and an amateur hybridizer. At the November meeting of the Maplewood Garden Club, he will present a program on Cacti and Other Succulents, great plant categories to occupy gardeners during the cold winter months to come. Find out more about these interesting species Monday, November 7, 7:30 PM at the Maplewood Memorial Library, 51 Baker St., Maplewood, NJ. The meeting is open to the public, admission is free and refreshments (often home made!) will be served. For more information visit maplewoodgardenclub.org.
