An Evening of World Jazz
AN EVENING OF WORLD JAZZ: CELEBRATING PEOPLE AND THEIR ART FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10, 7-9pm Columbia High School Auditorium Free of charge.
Join the South Orange-Maplewood Adult School for an evening of World Jazz—a musical fusion that combines South Indian classical music and elements from rock, western jazz and world music—with Niko Higgins. Niko is a saxophonist, composer and ethnomusicologist, who holds a Ph.D from Columbia University. He received a 2006-2007 Fulbright Hays DDRA fellowship for his ethnographic fieldwork on fusion. He is the leader of the Niko Higgins Ensemble, which has released two CDs.

This is the first of a series of presentations that celebrate artists and their work with a focus on ethnomusicology. The series is a new collaboration of the Marshood Family Foundation and The South Orange-Maplewood Adult School.
