Finally: Cuttle, Maini, Farfan Officially Win SOMSD Board Seats

It took weeks to certify, but Shannon Cuttle, Annemarie Maini and Javier Farfan won the hotly contested South Orange-Maplewood BOE seats.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - It took weeks to certify, but Shannon Cuttle, Annemarie Maini and Javier Farfan won the hotly contested South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education seats, according to the official results posted to the Essex County Clerk's website.

Cuttle and Maini had large leads on election night and were obvious winners Nov. 6, but the third place finish was too close to call. Javier Farfan had 123 more votes than Narda Chisholm-Greene before provisional ballots were counted.

Before the results could be considered official, those ballots needed to be validated and counted .

When that process was completed, Farfan had 162 more votes than Chisholm-Green, according to the Essex County Clerk’s website. The official, final tallies for the winners are:

  • Shannon Cuttle: 7,108
  • Annemarie Maini: 7,085
  • Javier Farfan: 5,818
