Finding Your Center Through Sound: A Guided Introduction to Meditation
Meditation is not easy to begin or sustain, and many people have no idea how to start, so I have created a workshop to introduce a few simple techniques that I hope, combined with beautiful music, will encourage you to begin or refresh a practice of their own.
It is now widely known that meditation is very beneficial to health and well-being; on a physical level, it lowers blood pressure, decreases tension, increases serotonin production, and improves immune functioning. Many large corporations such as Aetna and General Mills have introduced internal wellness programs, a main pillar of which is meditation.

Sound also has scientifically proven healing qualities, and research is now showing that music helps to reduce anxiety, can assist with pain relief, and is also linked to increased immune functioning. A recent McGill Universtity study showed how music stimulates the brain to release dopamine, a hormone that creates positive feelings—which is why, when we hear a beautiful song, we feel happiness and joy—our bodies literally experience a physiological reaction to music we love.
Gabriele Savarese, a virtuoso violinist from Florence, will be collaborating with me to create the most soothing, relaxing tableau possible to help you get this beneficial practice started. I will present three types of meditation, accompanied by music that is conducive and supportive of it’s unique method.
