Concerned about the recent gun scares at two Maplewood schools?

The South Orange and Maplewood School District will host a “Town Hall on School Safety” on Monday, June 8, in response to back-to-back gun scares in Maplewood. [See related Patch article here]

“Recent incidents at Columbia High School and Maplewood Middle School have understandably raised concerns about how to keep our children safe, both in our schools and in our larger community,” school administrators posted on the district website.

During the public meeting, members of the administration, board of education, and municipal officials will discuss:

  • Ensuring a safe and positive climate in the district’s schools
  • Ways to protect our children from guns and other threats of violence
  • Supporting students in times of crisis

The meeting will take place at the Maplewood Middle School Auditorium, 7 Burnet St., Maplewood.
